San Antonio Business Information
San Antonio is considered to be nearly recession proof. The largest employment factors come from three main industries: manufacturing, government and services. Government is a strong business force in the area because of the location of three Air Force bases and one Army post in the region. These bases have the one of the largest economic impacts on the area. One base was closed but transformed into a commercial port called KellyUSA. It now houses a vibrant airport and is also a rail-served business park.
The service sector is growing rapidly due to the demand for business services and health care. There is also a sound economic base because of San Antonio's tourism industry. Toyota Motor Corporation also chose to place one of its truck manufacturing plants in San Antonio.
There are numerous manufacturers and distributors in the San Antonio area. Goods that are produced include structural steel, steel forms, food handling equipment, rolled aluminum sheet, storage batteries, cement and airplane parts.
